#36 - Janky-The Big American Doctor Is Canadian

We're back and gosh darn it, we missed you!

Please join us (with much thanks to our friends Geoff and Devon of On Hold for the holiday greetings) for this edition of Zee and Zed when we discuss such irrelevant topics as Americanada Day, my calves, our return from Ontario, name dropping, rental car safety seats, our son's accident and how much of a trooper he is, Podcasters Across Borders (check the website out), Canadian doctors, 80's love songs, "Americanadian Differences - Canada Day vs. Independence Day", Target, "Ask Lyndon - Mustard", and an awkward goodbye.

Shows and sites mentioned include (geez, check out this list): On Hold, Dicks&Janes, Shane and Tom's Squeeze Box, Quirky Nomads, Digital Detroit Radio, Canadian Podcast Buffet, CatFish Show, Bob and AJ Show, Electric Sky, The AndyCast, Geek Farm Life, Beyond Science, Spaceship Radio, Two Boobs and A Baby, My Marilyn, Check This Out!, Sounds Like Canada: The Digital Extra, The Ottawa Local Podcast, JamesPod, Wicked Good Podcast, Cheap Date, The Mr. Nice Guy Show, Todbits, Barry from Barrie, Broca's Area, EMS Live, In Over Your Head, Jay Ingram's Theatre of the Mind, Jim Dupree: Enthusiast, LibriVox, The Oka Zoo, The Toronto Indie Scene and The Zedcast.

Music by Descendents and King Bonk.

  • I dunno, guys. You rag on Target Adam for just sitting at the electronics desk doing nothing. In my opinion, he should get Employee of the Month for that, because whenever I need help in the electronics department, there's never anybody around...

  • Hey - don't knock Steve from Blues Clues! He totally rocks. A couple of years ago he collaborated on a pretty good album with the keyboardist from The Flaming Lips. Of course he's the old host - his younger brother Kevin took over in 2002).

And since when did PBS run ads? That's crazy!

  • Jason, we wish you were there too!

Steve, we LOVE Adam, don't get us wrong.

Todd, it's only PBS Sprout that plays ads. This is a 24 hour preschool kids channel. They play diaper ads, soap etc., and now Love Songs of the 80's. It's messed up.

  • Jason, Steve, Todd: What Karen said. We wish the 3 of you were all at the Kingston meet-up too.
    _ _ _ _ _ _

Dave/Heather: That's hilarious! For a second I thought it said "Tennessee Stars" instead of "Tennis Stars".

You look like you're trying to work something out there, Dave (if you know what I mean).

  • Hi Guys,

    Great show!

You both sound so energized...just like in the early days...awesome to hear!

It was fabulous to meet you both. Your son it truely a treasure!

It was also nice to hear you back to old form with Karen cutting off Ross as he presented his Americandian report.

    Audio GOLD!

    Later!

  • doh....

Your son IS truely a treasure....

    Lousy blogger with no editing....

  • Karen, Ross doesn't cut your Canadian presentation, so why do you get so impatient? That doesn't gibe with the polite Canadian stereotype? Are you not getting your Wheatabix fiber?

Since your son was injured at the Podder convention and ended up with a cast on his leg, that conjures up a whole new image of "pod-casting".

  • Etherdog:

It's called humour and is part of my schtick. If you don't effin' know that by now....

  • I just wanted to say thanks for truly being so rad. You guys are so supportive of the community; it's a real pleasure to be an upstart podcast when we have people as amazingly cool as you two for guidance. If there was an Podcast Award for nicest people in podcasting I'd definately vote for you guys. Thanks again.

** was that maybe a bit too cheesy? **

  • geoff...not cheesy at all...i think the podcast community is fortunate to have the zzs...they are real as it gets :-)

  • I'll second what Geoff and Vivian said.

Well, Ross is nice, anyway. :-)

  • Yeah, I am secretly wishing that Ross will uncharacteristically, go ballistic when, reading his "AmeriCanadian" difference, you interrupt him one too many times. And I really have a thing for Canadian girls, too! Say "out and about" for me and I will swoon. (But I don't drink Molson or LaBatt's.)

  • Hey, thanks so much for mentioning JITOTM!

You two have great energy. As half of a cross-border couple, I'm inspired.

    Best wishes,

    David.
